She is a woman with many answers. She speaks on and has written multiple books about relationships. When it comes to being an expert, Michelle McKinney Hammond knows what it's like to live as a sinner, love like no other and be forgiven and totally in love with our Creator.
"My faith story actually started back in Catholic school, although I didn’t realize it at the time. We had chapel every day and that was the first time I had the encounter with the hugeness of God," said Hammond
But in her early 20's she met and fell in love with a married man. He was later gunned down and killed while the two lived in Chicago and that was a huge turning point in Michelle's life and thus began her faith journey into adulthood.
"I ended up reading a book by Hal Lindsey called, ‘The Late Great Planet Earth’. In the middle of that book He does the Salvation Invitation. I put down that book at midnight, by myself and in my room I prayed the Sinner’s Prayer. It was the first night I had slept soundly since my boyfriend had died. I said, ‘Dear Jesus, come into my heart and forgive me for my sins’. It was that simple," explained Hammond.
Through a series of extraordinary, but everyday life situations, God was paving a path for this young advertising executive and it started in a small church where the pastor laid his hands on Michelle and had a very personal message.
"I got up to the front, he laid his hands on my forehead and he said, ‘Oh, the Lord loves you so much. Do you know how much the Lord loves you?’ Up to then I had been feeling really undone, totally unworthy of anybody’s love because I blamed myself for my boyfriend’s death because we had an argument before he got shot. So, I was in deep grief and deep guilt and here he was telling me that God loves me and I thought, ‘How? How could He? I’ve decided that I’m completely worthless and there’s no good in me’. And then he said, ‘And, He’s got something special for you to do. You’ve got a call in your life young lady’. At that point I just exploded and I sobbed and you could here my sobs just resounding around the church and from that day on, I was completely different. I mean I had a very drastic conversion. I went from party animal to evangelist overnight."
Michelle is now a television talk show host, she has authored scores of books and she ministers to woman throughout the world.
"Nothing that I’m doing now was on my ‘to do’ list. I’ve just been amazed by what He’s done with my life."
She never married, keeping her focus on her one true love in Jesus Christ and through that she says she is living life to the fullest.
"It’s an amazing life. I’ve had an amazing life and it gets more amazing every day."
