"A Salute to Those Who Stayed with It"
Sermon by David Wilkerson
Once we all get to heaven and our work on earth is done, the spoils of the victories won in God's kingdom on earth will be shared equally amongst those who were send and those who were the senders. Every member of the body of Christ is responsible for being faithful unto God for the gifts and talents that the Lord entrusted them to have on earth. Whether we see talented people in world who can do many things at a time well or other who can only do a few things, God originally intended for them to use it for His kingdom and His Glory. For the believer in Christ, our faithful obedience and loving devotion to the Lord Jesus Christ ought to motivate us in all that we do in God's kingdom from now unto eternity. That's why our King told us, "If much has been given, much will be required."
"And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom [his] lord shall make ruler over his household, to give [them their] portion of meat in due season? Blessed [is] that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. Of a truth I say unto you, that he will make him ruler over all that he hath. But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken; The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for [him], and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers. And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared not [himself], neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many [stripes]. But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few [stripes]. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more." Luke 12:42-48
He also said in the parable of the talent those who are faithful in a little, even what he has will be taken away.
"Then he who had received the one talent came and said, 'Lord, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed.
"For [the kingdom of heaven is] like a man traveling to a far country, [who] called his own servants and delivered his goods to them.
Mat 25:15 And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and immediately he went on a journey.
Mat 25:16 Then he who had received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents.
Mat 25:17 And likewise he who [had received] two gained two more also.
Mat 25:18 But he who had received one went and dug in the ground, and hid his lord's money.
Mat 25:19 After a long time the lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them.
Mat 25:20 "So he who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, 'Lord, you delivered to me five talents; look, I have gained five more talents besides them.'
Mat 25:21 His lord said to him, 'Well [done], good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.'
Mat 25:22 He also who had received two talents came and said, 'Lord, you delivered to me two talents; look, I have gained two more talents besides them.'
Mat 25:23 His lord said to him, 'Well [done], good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.'
Mat 25:24 "Then he who had received the one talent came and said, 'Lord, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed.
Mat 25:25 And I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the ground. Look, [there] you have [what is] yours.'
Mat 25:26 "But his lord answered and said to him, 'You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed.
Mat 25:27 So you ought to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I would have received back my own with interest.
Mat 25:28 So take the talent from him, and give [it] to him who has ten talents.
Mat 25:29 'For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away.
Mat 25:30 And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.'
God's Kingdom does not reward ability; it rewards faithfulness.
