4 Awards in 2 Years for 'Simply Chrysolite'
Simply Chrysolite is composed of a group of 6 young female singers under 25 years old who actually started singing only two years ago in 2009. After winning a 2010 South African Crown Gospel Award in "Best Engineering" with their first album, they were then nominated for the prestigious 2011 SAMA "Best Urban Gospel Album" Award. Not later than five weeks ago, they won the 2011 Award for "Best International Act" at the London BEFFTA (Black Entertainment Film Fashion Television and Arts Award).
Winning this BEFFTA Award was not only an exploit, considering the fact that these 6 young Gospel singers were in competition with the likes of Kelly Rowland from USA, 2 Face, D banj or Teargas, but also because of their real story. Originally coming from townships in Durban (South Africa), they have not benefited any professional training. They only met a man of God, Timothy Omotoso, who taught them music and continues to mentor the group.
Simply Chrysolite has now started taking the world by storm, as they also have won three weeks ago two more awards in the categories "Best International Song" and "Best International Album" at the 2011 Gospel Music Awards in Ireland.
