For recording the opening balances for an account in QuickBooks, you need to follow these steps:
- Ensure that you know the exact amount you have to enter on the opening balance.
- Now go to Settings > Chart of Accounts > New
- Now give the account an account type, name and detail type, add other details too like tax code etc.
- Select when you want to start tracking your finances. Go to the Balance field, then enter the amount and determine the date you want to start tracking.
- Once done, Save and Close it.
