I'm a lecturer at Deakin University in Australia. My field is information Systems, and Geocaching strikes me as an accessible way of introducing concepts related to Geographical Information Systems. Even geocaching.com has overlays, querying systems. The route based pocket queries are quite sophisticated.
 
Has anyone looked at using Geocaching/GPS/GIS as a segment of a tertiary course?
 
I'd be interested in discussing this further, for our use, and perhaps jointly develop a paper.
