Someone has said that you will never discover new worlds unless you have courage to lose sight of the shore. Here at The Refuge, we are discovering new things each day as God leads us to becoming a community of people who don’t just “do” church, but who will "be" the church. If you are looking for the perfect church, you won’t find it here. What you will find is information about people meeting the challenges of life together, opportunities to become a part of events, meetings, and activities that are not just religious gatherings, and resources that may help you find purpose and direction for your life. There are many different ideas about what a church should look like, what a church really is or isn’t, and why church is or is not relevant to life. Again, we don’t have all the answers, but we are not afraid to explore and investigate together. The ultimate goal for us is His presence, which causes us to take on His likeness. As we tell people so often, there is no perfect church, and we certainly have our share of flaws here at The Refuge. We are new at this, seeing as The Refuge only began in April of 2004. There were forty people gathered in a basement, committed to figuring out how church could be the highlight of the week and not something we dreaded. Now, six years later, over 1000 people have joined the journey and are excited about “being” who God created them to be. The excitement at The Refuge is contagious. It is our desire to be involved and associated with a community of people who love Christ, love others, and are excited about coming together to make a difference. We invite you to join us! We think you'll be pleasantly surprised by what you discover at The Refuge. Jay and Melanie Stewart Lead Pastors - The Refuge |
