3 For the revelation is yet for an appointed time; but at the end it will speak and not lie. Though it is in the future, wait for it because it will surely come, it will not delay. Habakkuk 1

Habakkuk 1
1 The prophecy which Habakkuk the prophet saw.
2 O LORD, how long shall I call for help and you will not hear? Or cry out to you: "Violence," and you will not save?
3 Why do you show me iniquity, and cause me to look upon trouble? For destruction and violence are before me; there is strife, and contention arises.
4 Therefore the law is remiss and justice never goes forth, for the wicked surrounds the righteous; therefore justice is perverted.
5 "Look at the heathen and see! Be utterly amazed! For I will work a work in your days which you will not believe even if you were told.
6 For lo, I raise up the Chaldeans, that bitter and impetuous nation, which shall march through the breadth of the land to possess the dwelling places that are not their's.
7 They are terrible and dreadful; their judgment and their dignity proceeds from themselves.
8 Their horses are swifter than leopards and more fierce than wolves at dusk; their horsemen charge headlong, they come from afar; they fly like the vulture that hastens to eat.
9 They all come for violence; their faces advance like the east wind, and they gather captives like the sand.
10 They scoff at kings, and rulers are scorned by them; they deride every stronghold, for they heap up earthen mounds and take them.
11 Then they sweep past like the wind and go on; and offend by making their own power their god."
12 Are you not from everlasting, O LORD my God, my Holy One? We shall not die. O LORD, you have appointed them to execute judgment; O Rock, you have established them to correct.
13 You are of purer eyes than to behold evil and cannot look on iniquity. Why then do you look upon those who deal treacherously, and hold your tongue when the wicked devours the man who is more righteous than he?
14 Why do you make men like the fish of the sea, like the creeping things that have no ruler over them?
15 They take all of them up with a hook, they catch them in their net and gather them in their dragnet; so they rejoice and are glad.
16 Therefore they sacrifice to their net and burn incense to their dragnet, because from them they live in luxury, and their food is plenteous.
17 Shall they therefore keep on emptying their net, and mercilessly continue to slay the nations?

1 I will stand my watch and station myself on the rampart, and will watch to see what He will say within me and what I will answer when I am reproved.
2 And the LORD answered me and said, "Write the revelation and make it plain upon tablets, so that anyone who passes by may read it.
3 For the revelation is yet for an appointed time; but at the end it will speak and not lie. Though it is in the future, wait for it because it will surely come, it will not delay.
4 Behold the proud, his soul is not upright within him, but the righteous shall live by faith.
5 Indeed, wealth betrays him; he is a proud man and cannot stay at home. His desire is like hell, and like death it cannot be satisfied; he gathers all nations and captures all peoples to himself.
6 Will not all of these take up a taunt and a ridicule against him and say, 'Woe to him who increases what is not his, and makes himself rich with usury! How long will this go on?
7 Will not your debtors rise up suddenly, who will awaken and vex you so that you tremble? Then you will be booty for them.'
8 Because you have plundered many nations, all the remnant of the people shall plunder you, because of men's blood and for the violence to the land, to the city and to all who dwell in it.
9 Woe to him who gets an evil gain for his house, so that he may set his nest on high that he may be delivered from the power of evil!
10 You have brought shame to your house by cutting off many people, and have sinned against your soul.
11 For the stone will cry out of the wall, and the beam from the timber will agree with it.
12 Woe to him who builds a town with bloodshed, and establishes a city by iniquity!
13 Behold, has the LORD of hosts not determined that people's labor only satisfies the fire [that will not last], and weary themselves in vain?
14 For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.
15 Woe to you who give your neighbor drink, who press your bottle on him to make him drunk, so that you may look on his nakedness!
16 You will be filled with shame instead of glory. Now you drink and be uncovered, like an uncircumcised heathen. The cup of the LORD's right hand will be turned to you, and disgrace will be on your glory.
17 For the violence done to Lebanon will overwhelm you; and the destruction of beasts will make you afraid, because of men's blood and for the violence of the land, of the city, and of all who dwell in it.
18 What profit is the graven image when its maker has carved it? It is only a molten image and a teacher of lies. For its maker trusts in his own work, in an idol that cannot speak.
19 Woe to him who says to the wood, 'Awake!' and to the dumb stone, 'Arise and teach!' Behold, it is overlaid with gold and silver and there is no breath in it at all.
20 But the LORD is in his holy temple; let all the earth keep silence before him.
Habakkuk 3
1 A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet, on Shigionoth [a highly enthusiastic poetic music].
2 O LORD, I have heard the report of you and was afraid. O LORD, revive your work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make yourself known; in wrath remember mercy.
3 God came from Teman, the Holy One from mount Paran. Selah [pause and consider]. His glory covered the heavens and the earth was full of his praise.
4 And his brightness was like the light; rays flashed from his hand, which was the hiding place of his power.
5 Before him went the pestilence, and plagues followed at his feet.
6 He stood and measured the earth; he looked and made the nations tremble, and the everlasting mountains were scattered and the age old hills bowed low. His ways are everlasting.
7 I saw the tents of Cushan in affliction; the tent curtains of the land of Midian trembled.
8 Was the LORD displeased with the rivers? Was your anger against the rivers? Was your wrath against the sea when you rode with your horses and your chariots of salvation?
9 Your bow was made quite bare; the rods of chastisements were sworn to the tribes of Israel. Selah. You divided the earth with rivers.
10 The mountains saw you and trembled. The overflowing of the water passed by; the deep uttered its voice and lifted up its hands on high.
11 The sun and moon stood still in their habitation at the light of your arrows as they went, and at the shining of your glittering spear.
12 You marched through the land in indignation; you threshed the heathen in anger.
13 You went forth for the salvation of your people, even for the salvation of your anointed; you wounded the head of the house of the wicked, laying bare the foundation to the neck. Selah.
14 You thrust through the head of the hordes with his own arrows; they came out as a whirlwind to scatter me, their rejoicing was like devouring the poor secretly.
15 You trampled on the sea with your horses, through the heap of great waters.
16 When I heard, my belly trembled; my lips quivered at the sound. Rottenness entered into my bones; I trembled in myself. I will wait quietly for the day of trouble when one comes up against the people who will invade them with his troops.
 17 Although the fig tree shall not blossom, there is no fruit on the vines, the olive crop shall fail, and the fields shall yield no food; though the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no cattle in the stalls;
18 Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.
19 The LORD God is my strength; he will make my feet like hinds' feet and he will make me to walk upon my high places.
